Holidaymakers looking to get away on their summer break face disruption next week as immigration officials prepare to strike.

The Public and Commercial Services (PCS) Union has revealed that 78% of the 1,100 immigration officials working for the UK Border Agency voted to stage a two-day strike beginning on August 5.

Andrea Clayton, head of insurance at HolidayExtras.com, reiterated the importance of booking travel insurance for your holiday: "It is worth noting that if you make travel arrangements after strikes or industrial action is planned, your travel insurance may not cover you. However, if there was no common knowledge of any action, you should be covered."

Travel insurance with Holiday Extras starts from as little as £10 per person, based on one week in Europe.
