Transport minister unveils BAA investment

International Walkway opens

Scotland's transport minister, Stewart Stevenson, was present at Aberdeen Airport on June 15 for the official unveiling of the new International Walkway, part of the airport's ongoing renovation.

The new extension is enclosed, covered and segregated, ensuring a more pleasant environment for passengers arriving and departing.

Managing director Kevin Brown said: "We are delighted to have Mr Stevenson here with us to perform the official opening. Initial feedback from passengers and airlines has been positive and we are all aware of the difference this extension will make.

"This is an incredibly exciting year. Not only are we about to celebrate our 75th birthday, but we are spending more in these 12 months than we have before. These is no part of our terminal that is not seeing the benefits of our massive spend this year and this walkway is a big part of that."

Speaking at the opening of the walkway, Stewart Stevenson MSP said: "I was delighted to be at Aberdeen Airport to mark the official opening of the impressive new International Walkway. This investment is testament to BAA's commitment to the airport and shows a determination to see it thrive and expand, a welcome boost to the local economy in these challenging times.

"As visitors arrive from across the world to celebrate Homecoming, it's important they get a warm welcome and there is no doubt that this year, and for many years to come, visitors travelling through Aberdeen Airport will enjoy these wonderful new facilities."
