Edinburgh confirms 100th destination

Edinburgh airport now offers flights to 100 destinations around the world following the announcement of a new service from Flyglobespan.

Passengers using Edinburgh airport now have access to 100 destinations following the announcement of a new service from Flyglobespan.

The carrier recently confirmed that it will begin services to the Croatian city of Dubrovnik next year.

BAA Scotland claimed that the milestone is a result of its multimillion pound investment in route development, which has led to the announcement of 29 new routes in 2007 alone.

The airport operator claims that it has invested more than £20 million in support of new and expanding airlines in the past 12 months.

Edinburgh airport managing director David Johnston said: "BAA Scotland's investment has helped deliver record growth in international traffic and a host of new direct services.

"These links are hugely important for our leisure passengers, who tell us they want to be able to fly direct from their local airport, as well as for incoming visitors and business travellers."

Edinburgh is the busiest airport in Scotland, with 8.9 million passengers using the hub in the last 12 months.
