British people are developing an appetite for glamping glamorous camping according to Freeads.co.uk.
The classified advertising website claims that traffic to its camping section more than doubled in the first two weeks of September compared to the previous fortnight.
One of the factors in the trend is celebrities such as Kate Moss and Sienna Miller being seen camping at festivals, lending the pastime a more glamorous image, Freeads.co.uk claims.
Holidaymakers could also be showing an interest in domestic breaks as they are conscious of the effect of air travel on the environment, the site claims.
Duncan Horton, chief executive of Freeads.co.uk, said: "It's not just a case of people going online to sell their camping gear now that the summer and the festivals are over, people are buying them almost as fast as they go on the site.
"It seems they're planning weekend breaks in the British countryside this month and also next month when the children are off school."
