Short-break holiday company Center Parcs has announced that it is to build its fifth centre in the UK at Warren Wood in Bedfordshire.
Some £200 million has been set aside for the new village, which is expected to open in 2010.
The centre will comprise 700 forest lodges, a 75-bed hotel and spa complex with 12 associated spa apartments and two main centres including an indoor sports arena, swimming pool, restaurants and retail outlets.
Martin Dalby, chief executive of Center Parcs, said the company was "delighted" that planning approval has been given for the new site.
"The new Center Parcs village near Woburn will generate significant local economic benefit including the creation of new jobs and further investment into the region," he added.
"It will attract a greater number of visitors to local sites and amenities in and around Bedfordshire."
Center Parcs has been operating in the UK holiday market for 20 years and has 1.5 million people staying in its villages every year.
