Organisers have revealed that this year's Mendip Food and Drink Festival will take place in October and that a number of new additions should make the event a major tourist draw.
Last year more than 60 local restaurants, farmers' markets, farm shops and delicatessens joined together for a week which showcased the best local produce in the area.
Over this year's October half term holiday (October 19th to 28th) the festival will again take place and organisers hope to attract even more tourists to this picturesque area of the south-west.
"We are contacting food businesses right across the area encouraging them to join us by organising events and activities for the public," explained festival organiser Julie Cooper.
"This year the festival host town will be Frome so we are hoping to get lots of food businesses in that area taking part."
District council chairman Edward James added: "This year's festival coincides with the half term holiday so Im really looking forward to seeing plenty of events for the whole family.
"It is important that children understand where their food comes from to appreciate the hard work of local producers but also help them understand the importance of healthy eating."
Holidaymakers visiting the area will also be able to explore the fascinating ancient ruins of nearby Glastonbury and the purpose-built factory outlet at Street.
