English Heritage arranges bank holiday fun

May 2007

The board which manages the historic environment of the UK has revealed that it has planned a number of exciting events for the late May bank holiday.

English Heritage - the organisation which manages the famous 'Blue Plaques' which are found at many UK tourist destinations - announced that it will be running activities up and down the country to entertain families this long weekend.

Nicole Dobbin, the events marketing manager for English Heritage, launched the events, saying: "We have something for everyone over the May bank holiday and half term school break.

"With much to entertain adults and children alike at all of the events, from have-a-go Elizabethan dancing, to junior jousting, make sure these dates are in your diary."

Ms Dobbin added that visitors to the tourist attractions would be able to "see history unfold" and visit "some of the most interesting historic properties England has to offer".

Notable events include a display of medieval life at Kenilworth Castle, an event showcasing upper-class Victorian society at Audley End House and Gardens and the chance to experience the thrill of a knightly joust at Pendennis Castle.
