Virgin Atlantic encourages entrepreneurs

In an airline version of Dragon’s Den, would-be entrepreneurs will be given the chance to pitch their business ideas on a new in-flight entertainment programme.

PitchTV will be shown onboard all Virgin Atlantic flights from June 2009, and will also be available on the Virgin website.

The winning pitches, as voted for by the online community, will feature as part of the PitchTV show on Virgin Atlantic flights. This will give budding entrepreneurs exposure to the thousands of business professionals who regularly fly with Virgin Atlantic.

“When I was starting out, I wish I could have had the chance to pitch my business ideas directly to people who could help make my ambitions a reality. We can now make that happen for you,” says Virgin Atlantic president, Sir Richard Branson.

“If you're a budding entrepreneur, we're giving you the unique opportunity of getting your ideas by top business professionals from around the world on-board Virgin Atlantic planes as well online at virgin.com. Who knows – among the viewers might be someone with the power to bring your idea to life,” Sir Richard adds.

In each PitchTV show guest entrepreneurs such as James Caan from Dragon’s Den and Charles Dunstone from Carphone Warehouse will answer questions posed by Richard Branson’s Twitter and blog followers.

Anyone who fancies themselves as the next Sir Richard should send a video of their best possible pitch for their new business idea lasting no more than two minutes.

As part of its 25th birthday celebrations Virgin Atlantic is this week offering special fares on flights to the Caribbean during the school summer holidays.

Special fares for return flights in economy to Barbados, Antigua and St Lucia are priced at £599. These special Caribbean fares are available for sale until April 8 for travel between July 17 and August 16 this summer.
