September 2007
The fourth Thursday of every November sees North America unite in its Thanksgiving Day celebrations and tourists in New York City at the time will be able to enjoy one of the country's best-loved spectacles.
Department store Macy's has organised the parade in the heart of the city since 1924 and it has become known for its impressive floats and balloons.
Among the attendees this year will be giant inflatable versions of Sesame Street's Big Bird, Mr Potato Head, Garfield, Snoopy and Scooby Doo.
There will also be floats themed around the Statue of Liberty, Santa's Sleigh, Barbie and the Polar Express.
One of the new attractions this year will be a hot air balloon to celebrate the fact that, due to a three-year suspension during the second world war, the 2007 parade will be the 80th since the tradition started.
Running from 09:00 until midday on November 22nd, the procession will depart from 77th Street and Central Park West before heading down Broadway to finish at 7th Avenue.
