Motorsport fans in Australia and all over the world are being targeted by a new advertising campaign designed to bring people to Queensland for this year's Indy 300 event.
Tourism minister Margaret Keech said that the already popular event is hoped to attract even more people this year and entice them to enjoy an extended stay on the Gold Coast, Travelmole reports.
"Through partnership advertising campaigns, we hope to encourage people to stay longer and also spend more money on the Gold Coast," Ms Keech said.
"Major events such as Indy not only impact the tourism industry, but also tourism-related businesses, such as cafes, bars and restaurants."
The tourism minister said that the Indy 300 event attracts more than 300,000 people who stay more than 173,000 nights altogether and spend over $50 million (£20.4 million).
