Turkey is new winter sun holiday destination

With the high cost of holidays in Spain and the rest of the eurozone Turkey has become a popular destination for summer holidays this year, and it is now being promoted for winter breaks.

Villa holiday specialist Artemis Travel is recommending holidaymakers to beat the British weather and high energy bills by having an extra helping of Turkey this winter. “We feel that Turkey does not always get the recognition it deserves as a winter destination. Our resorts are fully-operational year-round, offering a great range of facilities on-site. With winter temperatures averaging between 18° and 20° C in winter it really is a welcome alternative to grey British skies,” says Artemis Travel business development director, Nigel Harris.

“We also believe there is going to be significantly increased demand for winter long-stays, particularly among older travellers, who will be particularly keen to relax in the sun while simultaneously reducing soaring energy bills at home,” adds Harris.

The holiday villa company has a winter holiday offer on apartments at the Aegean Park and Club Aegean resorts in the Altinkum area of south-west Turkey. The resorts are easily accessed from Bodrum or Izmir airports, which are served by scheduled, low cost and charter flights from airports around the UK.

Two bedroom apartments at the Aegean Park and Club Aegean are priced at £125 per week from October to February. Artemis Travel is also offering four weeks for the price of three for any break longer than a month to encourage long winter breaks.

With four people sharing a 2 bedroom apartment this means one week’s accommodation costs less than £4.50 per person per night, or only £3.35 for four people taking advantage of the four weeks for three offer.

Both the Aegean Park and Club Aegean resorts have on-site restaurants, bars and shop and the Club Aegean also has the Apollo Health Spa which offers fitness facilities and beauty treatments.

Among the airlines offering flights to Bodrum from UK airports are Thomas Cook Airlines, Excel, First Choice Airways and Thomsonfly. Thomas Cook Airlines also operates flights to Izmir, as does British Airways.
