Stansted airport gets new coach link
[2nd May 2008]
A new airport coach service starts tomorrow with the launch of airdirect, offering a 24 hour a day service between Stansted airport and Ipswich.
The new coach service is a partnership between BAA Stansted and Excel Coaches and will operate 364 days a year (no services on Christmas Day) using coaches with full reclining leather seats, 'generous legroom' and WiFi access. Online ticket prices are £15 one way and £23 return for adults.
Around 44% of passengers arrive and depart from Stansted using public transport which is a UK leading position and one of the highest figures in Europe. The popularity of bus and coach services at Stansted continues to grow with over 550 scheduled departures every day to over 50 destinations across the UK," comments Stansted director of strategy and solutions, Nick Barton.
BAA Stansted is committed to maintaining its position as the leading UK airport for public transport, and this addition to our network is important for both business and leisure travellers in the eastern region, Barton adds.
Managing director of coach operator, Excel Coaches, says: We have worked very hard to ensure this service provides the very best facilities that people expect from a modern public transport provider and are delighted to get the service underway this weekend. We are extremely proud of the link we are providing for the people of Ipswich, and are confident its a service that will be very popular.
