Simon Montague, Director of Communications for Eurostar, said: Were really pleased that our fabulous new station, the UKs first 186mph line and journeys of roundly two hours to the centre of Brussels and Paris are attracting record numbers of passengers..."
With demand up 20 per cent on the previous record, three extra Eurostar services have been laid on to provide 2,250 additional seats. One extra train from St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord will run today and two extra trains from Paris Gare du Nord will run, one today and one tomorrow.
Eurostar moved its London operations from Waterloo to St Pancras on 14 November 2007 offering a faster connection to Europe with the launch of High Speed 1, the UK's first 186 mph line. Ebbsfleet International in Kent was officially opened by Dame Kelly Holmes on 29 January 2008.
