Arctic Circle Express
Great Rail Journeys are offering travellers the chance to explore the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Arctic Circle by train.
The 15-day tour of Scandinavia will take in northern Sweden in almost perpetual daylight, a wilderness of lakes and forests, the Arctic Circle, the breathtaking Norwegian coastline and fjord country as well as the cities of Stockholm and Oslo.
Travel will be by rail and coach. The itinerary features a number of sightseeing tours and excursions with highlights including journeys on the Ofoten, Flåm and Bergen railways, a cruise along the Geiranger Fjord and a visit to the Lapp village of Jukkasjarvi.
Departure dates are available between 9 May and 31 August 2008. Prices start from £1,895 per person, based on two sharing, inclusive of return scheduled SAS flights from London Heathrow (outward to Stockholm, returning from Oslo), rail and coach travel, transfers, 13 nights hotel accommodation with breakfast and dinner each day, overnight on train from Stockholm to Kiruna, excursions as per itinerary, plus the services of a Tour Manager throughout.
Other famous, incredible rail journeys include the Orient-Express through Europe to Istanbul, the Rocky Mountaineer tour across the Canadian Rockies and the Trans-Siberian Railway through Russia, Mongolia and China.
