Emirates Airline screens Slumdog Millionaire

Passengers flying with Emirates Airline will have the chance to see Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire.
Slumdog Millionaire won eight Oscars at the Academy Awards, leading to a surge in box office sales last week as worldwide sales passed the $200 million mark.
Now Emirates Airline passengers will be able to see the film in the air, ahead of many people who have yet to see it at the cinema.
“Providing passengers with the chance to see the winner of this year’s Best Picture Oscar is an example of Emirates’ commitment to quality and choice for our passengers,” says Emirates vice president, passenger communications and visual services, Patrick Brannelly.
Slumdog Millionaire, the heart-warming story of a Mumbai orphan who competes on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, is just one of up to 222 movies that passengers can see on Emirates in-flight entertainment system this month.
“Emirates’ ice system - which is now available in 80% of Emirates seats - is unparalleled in the industry and we continue to invest in the latest blockbusters, while striving to stay ahead of the competition with an on-going programme of technology and innovation,” explains Brannelly.
Also showing onboard Emirates this month are Oscar-nominated hits Changeling starring Angelina Jolie, and Australia with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. The latest Bond adventure, Quantum Of Solace, and animation Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa featuring the voices of Ben Stiller and Chris Rock, can also be seen.
Last year Emirates won the Skytrax award for Best In-flight Entertainment for the fourth consecutive year. As well as movies, Emirates passengers can also enjoy music, up to 100 video games and 450 TV shows on ice.
Passengers are also able to use their own mobile phones in-flight on 32 Emirates aircraft currently fitted with the AeroMobile service. The airline says that typically about 32% of passengers switch on their mobiles on flights.
