Cruise ship

Carnival Cruises says its new cruise ship Carnival Splendor is the largest ‘Fun Ship’ ever built.

Carnival Splendor will be able to cater for 3,006 passengers and is said to offer the widest variety of formal and casual dining options at sea.

The new cruise ship will set sail on its first European cruise from Genoa in Italy on 2nd July. Then on 13 July the ship will leave from the Port of Dover on a 12 day cruise around Northern Europe.

After this Carnival Splendor will be based at Civitavecchia near Rome and embark on 12 day cruises to the Mediterranean, Greece and Turkey. Her next port of call will be Fort Lauderdale, Florida from where she will leave for Caribbean cruises.

Dining options for passengers on board the Carnival Splendor include a supper club modelled on New York steakhouses, a sushi restaurant, Mongolian barbecue and Indian tandoori.

“Today’s consumers are savvier than ever when it comes to cuisine, and they want not only longtime favourites but also the opportunity to enjoy new choices they typically wouldn’t try at home. Carnival Splendor’s size has enabled us to explore different culinary options for our guests’ enjoyment and raise the bar on our ocean-going cuisine,” says Natko Nincevic, Carnival’s senior vice president of hotel operations.

In addition to a wide choice of restaurants, passengers can also enjoy 24-hour stateroom service, with hot and cold food delivered direct to their cabin. There will also be late-night themed buffets, including the Chocolate Extravaganza.
