bmibaby most punctual low cost airline

bmibaby was the most punctual low cost airline in the UK in the first quarter of 2008, and Eastern Airways the most punctual scheduled airline.
The statistics for airline punctuality are released by flightontime.info based on Civil Aviation Authority data. Average delay on bmibaby flights in the period from January to March 2008 was 10.5 minutes, compared to 11 minutes for Ryanair flights in second place, and 11.6 minutes for Flybe (pictured) in third place.
Least punctual low cost airline according to the statistics is Flyglobespan, with average flight delays of 23.7 minutes. Only 68.2% of Flyglobespan flights took off within 15 minutes of the departure time, compared to 84.5% of bmibaby flights and 81.1% of Flybe flights. Monarch was in fourth place, easyJet in fifth place and Jet2 in sixth place.
“On time performance is critical to our customers and it is due to the commitment of the bmibaby team that we have been able to achieve such a high rate of punctuality,” comments bmibaby MD, Crawford Rix.
In the scheduled airlines category Eastern Airways was rated the most punctual of 35 airlines, with average flights delays of just 6.6 minutes and 89% of flights departing within 15 minutes of the scheduled time.
British Airways and Virgin Atlantic were 33rd and 34th respectively, with average flight delays of 24.7 and 27 minutes. Bottom of the table was Emirates with average delays of 33.7 minutes and only 38.3% of flights taking off within 15 minutes of the scheduled time.
Eastern Airways, which operates 800 flights a week, has introduced fast track dedicated security channels at several airports including Stansted, Birmingham, East Midlands and Newcastle to help passengers beat security queues and enabling them to check in up to 30 minutes before departure.
