Airports by rail means 1 million less cars

Airports by Rail

According to Heathrow Express, which operates the rail service between London Paddington and Heathrow airport, travelling to the airport by train takes more than one million cars off the road every year.

The train operator says driving on busy roads to the airport can increase stress, as can worries over not getting to the airport because of traffic congestion.

"We all know that jams cause us stress and are harmful to the environment," says Heathrow Express managing director, Brian Raven. "Heathrow Express offers a quicker, more reliable and less stressful way of travelling and by removing one million cars from the road it has a tangible impact, both on the environment and the well being of our customers."

Further advantages of travelling by train, says Raven, include being able to catch up on email or internet research thanks to Heathrow Express' Wi-Fi HotSpot.

Like Heathrow Express, Holiday Extras is dedicated to taking the stress out of travelling to and from the airport. Airports by Rail from Holiday Extras offers discounted rail fares to 8 main UK airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.
