The Lord of the Rings - Music
Music: A.R. Rahman, Värttinä and Christopher Nightingale
Indian film composer Allah Rakha Rahman and Finnish band Värttinä have collaborated to create the sensational soundtrack to the theatrical production of The Lord of the Rings. The music to this production can only be described as a soundtrack - the emphasis is more on the overall affect rather than the characters belting out show tunes.
Producers have been very quick to describe the show not as a musical but as an epic production. With this in mind the music is orchestrally driven, at times the overall sound is tribal, the affect is immense, your heart beats with the drums and jumps with every crash of the symbols. The atmosphere changes with each melody and when combined with a very impressive set and awesome effects the overall feeling is one of power and trepidation.
The soundtrack is similar to that of a film's - your emotions are played by the musicians. You leave the world of the theatre and enter Middle Earth and during that time you are immersed into the atmosphere expertly created by the production team.
Enter the eeiry, mystical world of Middle Earth with the spectacular production of The Lord of the Rings.
