Travel insurance if your child has a heart problem

Heart conditions are a pre-existing condition that must be declared when booking your travel insurance.

Guidelines for flying with a heart condition

There are a few guidelines you must follow if travelling with a heart condition. These include:

  • Bringing a list of certified medications you need for security and customs
  • Accommodating your medications (bring a cooler if necessary)
  • Carrying all medication with you
  • Notifying security if your child has a pacemaker. Full body scanners do not harm pacemakers
  • Asking for hand searches if necessary. Do not allow metal detectors near a pacemaker.
