Winter Family Holidays
The summer holidays aren't the only great times to go on holiday. With the resurgence of winter holidays such as skiing and snowboarding, more and more families are holidaying when the weather is colder and finding out the great that winter has to offer.
Family snow holidays without sports
If skiing or snowboarding isn't necessarily your preferred winter activity, there are still plenty of things that you can enjoy in the colder months. The Avoriaz resort in France has a selection of shops, restaurants and even a water park, Aquariaz, that you can access without having to ride the slopes. There are also organised snowball fights and sumo wrestling on site for you to have a go at.
St Moritz is also another great winter location for families who don't like to ski, with an abundance of spectator sports such as cricket on ice, national park tours and train rides on a UNESCO listed train.
Cheap Family Ski Holidays
Les Deux Alpes has fantastic views of Mont Blanc and it is one of the most likely resorts to receive snow during skiing season. The long-established town also caters to adult enjoyment, with a collection of bars and restaurants. For children, there is a selection of activities such as ice skating and horse-riding, as well as beginner ski lessons.
Chamonix in France offers holidays with child-friendly slopes, easily accessible ski lessons, and self-catering equipment available. Childcare facilities are also available in this resort town, allowing you to have some peace of mind that your children will be well cared for at all times.
Before going on a skiing holiday as a family, it may be a good idea to take out family travel insurance including cover for winter sports.
Family Ski Holidays with Childcare
The Chalet Hotel Valverde in Gressoney is in a quiet area of Italy and has specialised child care facilities and children's clubs, allowing you to incorporate some peaceful moments into your holiday.
