Czech Republic and Travel Insurance

The Czech Republic is one of Europe's most historically preserved countries, with a traditional European capital and beautiful, rolling countryside.

While your EHIC will still cover you for basic medical treatment (for more on Brexit, read here) you may still need a reliable and appropriate travel insurance policy behind you to financially protect you should anything go wrong while you're abroad.

Before selecting a European policy alongside the dates you will be travelling, you will opt for either a Single Trip or Annual Multi-Trip. After this, you have a choice of three levels of cover with varying amounts of protection:

Top 5 things to see and do in the Czech Republic

1. Adrspach-Teplice Rocks

These unusual sandstone rocks are popular with rock climbers, however, they can also be reached via a walking trail as part of the surrounding nature reserve.

2. Cesky Krumlov Castle

Linked to the Rosenbergs, the famous Cesky Krumlov castle is one of the most well-preserved European castles as well as having the most well-preserved baroque theatre.

3. Bohemian Paradise

This national preserve is accessible to all for a variety of interests such as rock formations, museums, castles and peaceful countryside.

4. Moravian Gallery

The second largest art collection in the country, the Moravian Gallery provides numerous exhibitions such as ceramics and Gothic art, alongside Josef Hoffman's restored childhood home at the end of the tour.

5. The Crypts

The crypts across the Czech Republic such as the 'Bone Church' preserve the remains of citizens who died from disease and war. These now make for a macabre outing, some of which are even installed in art installations.

Do UK citizens need a visa for the Czech Republic?

You do not need a visa for the Czech Republic. However, if you plan to stay longer than 30 days you will need to register with the Foreign Police.

Is the Czech Republic an expensive country?

Prague is 50-100% more expensive than rural areas. In general, the Czech Republic is a relatively inexpensive travel destination. The food and drink prices are low and there is an abundance of cheap hostels, making it the perfect getaway for younger people or those on a budget. However, when budgeting for any holiday, you must ensure that you factor in travel insurance, as it's important to be covered in the event of an emergency.
