Coronavirus Thailand and Travel Insurance

In response to the outbreak of coronavirus, the Thai government has put in place measures to contain the spread across the country.

Health screening is in place at borders and airports and travellers arriving in Thailand are issued with a health card outlining the steps to take if you fall ill while in the country.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) website is a reliable and up-to-date source of official information and advice for travelling to Thailand.

Will Coronavirus Affect my Thailand Travel Insurance?

What is Coronavirus?

The coronavirus, or COVID-19, originated in Wuhan City, China. It is a respiratory condition, which presents with symptoms similar to the flu, including coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath and fever. The World Health Organisation website is an official and reliable source of updates and advice on the outbreak.

How to Protect Yourself from Coronavirus

Although there is no current cure for COVID-19, there are steps that you can take to minimise your risk of infection.

  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly, for at least 20 seconds, using hot, soapy water.
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser throughout the day, particularly when you've been out in public.
  • Use tissues to catch any coughs and sneezes and dispose of the tissues immediately.
  • If someone you know is, or has been unwell with symptoms consistent with coronavirus, avoid direct contact.
  • If you display symptoms of COVID-19, seek medical advice and attention quickly.
  • Stay up-to-date on the outbreak by following official and government updates.
