Coronavirus Spain and Travel Insurance

Following the coronavirus outbreak, Spanish authorities have introduced measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 in Spain. At present, there are 589 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Spain, including in the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands.

Additional screening measures have been put in place at borders, airports and cruise ports. Further details and travel advice is available on the Spanish Ministry of Health website.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) website also has detailed information and governmental advice for people travelling to Spain.

What is Coronavirus?

The coronavirus, also called COVID-19, is a new strain of coronavirus first identified in Wuhan City, China. It is a respiratory condition and the symptoms include coughing, sneezing, high temperature and breathing difficulties. How To Protect Yourself from Coronavirus

Even though there is no known cure for coronavirus, there are several steps that you can take to help prevent the spread;

  • Regularly wash your hands with hot, soapy water.
  • Santise your hands with an alcohol-based cleanser, especially after being out in public.
  • Catch coughs and sneezes with a tissue while coughing and sneezing, and dispose of the used tissue straight away.
  • If anyone that you know is, or has recently been unwell, avoid direct contact with them.
  • If you have any symptoms of coronavirus, seek immediate medical care and follow any advice given by your healthcare provider.
  • Stay informed on the development of COVID-19 via official governmental websites.
