Coronavirus Malaysia and Travel Insurance

Following the outbreak of coronavirus in Wuhan City, China, the Malaysian authorities have initiated measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 throughout the region. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has up-to-date travel advice for Malaysia, and its confirmed cases. There will be enhanced checks at airports and borders for people entering and exiting the country.

What is Coronavirus?

Coronavirus, or COVID-19, is a respiratory condition which presents with flu-like symptoms. It starts with fever, coughing and sneezing before leading to shortness of breath and, potentially, breathing difficulties.

How to Protect Yourself against Coronavirus

Although there is currently no cure for coronavirus, there are a number of hygiene measures that you can take to reduce your risk of infection:

  • Wash your hands with soap and hot water throughout the day
  • Catch coughs and sneezes in tissues
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser throughout the day
  • Avoid direct contact with anyone who is, or has recently been, ill.
  • If you believe that you are showing symptoms of coronavirus, contact NHS '111'
