Coronavirus, Cyprus and Travel Insurance

Expect to undertake advanced health screenings when entering Cyprus via airports or cruise ports. There are currently no restrictions in place on who can enter the country, but make sure that you stay up-to-date on the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) website, as this is a rapidly changing situation. Additional measures and restrictions can be imposed at short notice.

What Is Coronavirus, Also Known As COVID-19?

The coronavirus, or COVID-19, originated in Wuhan City, China. According to the World Health Organisation, symptoms include "fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhoea." Coronavirus patients may not experience all of these and in many cases, the symptoms will occur gradually and be mild.

Ways To Protect Yourself from Coronavirus

There is no cure for the coronavirus at the moment, but there are plenty of hygiene practises you can follow to minimise your risk of catching it;

  • Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds frequently throughout the day, using hot soapy water.
  • If you have used public transport, use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.
  • Dispose of any used tissues immediately.
  • Avoid direct contact with anyone showing symptoms of coronavirus.
  • Contact NHS 111 straight away if you become unwell with symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Keep informed of government travel advice and updates on the coronavirus from official sources.
