People Pics Competition

Ever taken a photo? Ever been on holiday? Ever blogged about it?

After much anguished deliberation, the winners have been chosen by our travel blogging expert Melvin @TravelDudes. Thank you to everyone who entered People Pics and a massive congratulations to those who were shortlisted. The standard was amazing but Melvin has now chosen our winner!

'Cards' by Jenny Downing

This photo stood out amongst stiff competition because of the story it tells; Melvin chose it because "you see the friendliness in all the faces and the guy in front seems to be a bit irritated. He seems to be happy to meet a traveler but, on the other side, is scared that the traveler or someone else might look into his cards. I guess he got a strong set of cards." Melvin explained how he loved that it is reminiscent of "many experiences when traveling where you meet locals. These moments make travel so special."

'Cheeky Monkeys' by Neil Hedge

This photo is the winner of the iPad2, under the humorous category. Melvin tells us "that photo shows what travel is all about! You see a very happy traveler who just got back from an amazing sight in India. The Indian temples are incredibly beautiful and you see how nicely this one is hidden in the mountains. Not just that, the lady got the bindi on her forehead, a typical decoration worn in South Asia. Traditionally, the area between the eyebrows is said to be the sixth chakra, the seat of 'concealed wisdom'. That photo shows the special experience the traveler had at this palace." He adds "Did I miss anything else in that photo? Any other story that photo might tell?'"
