TV Show for Chester Zoo

Ever wanted to see what goes on behind the scenes at one of the UK's largest zoos? Well, thanks to a new television programme soon to hit the screens you can do just that without leaving the comfort of your armchair.

Hitting television screens tonight (October 8th) at 6.30pm, Zoo Days takes a look at the highs and lows of life at Chester Zoo and will show viewers a side of the zoo not seen before. Airing on Five, Zoo Days will show the keepers, vets and animals at the zoo and follow some fascinating stories as they unfold across the course of the series. The show will run on weekdays until October 31st with each of the twenty episodes narrated by Jane Horrocks - well known for playing Bubbles in TV's Absolutely Fabulous.

Ron Trickle, who produced the series, said: "Never work with children and animals, they say. Well, our production team has spent most of the summer filming children and no fewer than 7,000 animals - and they've loved every minute of it." The series was shot at the Zoo over 11 weeks earlier in the year by Granada Wild.

Featured stories will include the first medical check up for a pair of newly born Red Panda cubs, sick giraffes and the battle to save some baby flamingos from rising waters after a bout of torrential rain. If watching Zoo Days makes you want to see some of the Zoo's many fascinating animals for yourself then be sure to book your tickets with us. Chester Zoo is the ideal place to base a short family break with plenty to see and enjoy for the whole family.
