Aer Lingus celebrated 75 years of flying in 2011. Founded in 1936 by the Irish government, Aer Lingus now offers low-cost flights partnered with many of the benefits of full service air travel. A single economy class is provided on all short-haul flights with a business class available when flying long-haul. The Irish airline serves nearly 70 destinations across Europe and the US with a fleet of 43 planes, with further aircraft purchases expected in 2014. Aer Lingus carries 10 million passengers a year on average.
