The food in Benidorm is a real treat. Fully Mediterranean, you can expect everything from delicious tapas to hearty rice and seafood dishes. Luckily, there are options to suit most budgets. Local seafood chip shops will feed you quick and easy morsels of red prawns and patatas bravas, while – if you head up Tapas Alley – you can find more exclusive and high-brow restaurants for paella, freshly caught fish and local wines and liqueurs. Most tapas places will do deals on shared plates and a bottle of wine, so there are some great bargains out there.
Travelling in Benidorm is easy and affordable. A single bus journey costs from €1.20-€1.65 and will get you around town and out to some of the neighbouring villages. You can pick up a Bonobus 20 card and top it up as you go. Trams to other resorts along the Costa Brava cost €5.65 for a return, so you can day trip to Dénia or Alicante without breaking the bank.
The list of activities to enjoy in Benidorm is long and varied. To save on cash, head to a local beach to paddle and unwind under the sun. The Maritime Cultural Centre is free to enter, or you can wander up to Cavall Peak & Morales Tower. Watersports are a popular daytime activity. Cable skiing costs about €20-€40, while boat trips to Tabarca Island are about €30-€45 for an afternoon excursion. Entrance to Aqualandia is €26 for one person and €112 for a family. To get into Aqua Natura, it's about €17 for children and around €23 for adults.
