Family Rides at Alton Towers

Alton Towers is an ideal place for families with children of any age. The thrill rides grab the headlines, but there are plenty of attractions to enjoy at the UK's number one theme park which aren't quite as scary! Family enjoyment and a whole load of authentic fun is the name of the game on these ten top rides and adventures.

If you're looking for family roller coasters then Alton Towers offers a diverse collection. There's the double inverting Corkscrew, a classic ride that continues to wow guests after over twenty five years service. You'll also want to have a ride on the Runaway Mine Train, which shunts its way through disused mines and caves at a wild pace! For something a little different, head to Spinball Whizzer, and step into a poor pinball's shoes - you'll be sent round the track at high speed in spinning cars, meaning you could face any number of directions as you go!

When it's a hot day, or if you just fancy a good soaking, you'll want to ride either Congo River Rapids, or The Flume - Unplugged by Imperial Leather. Hop aboard merry vessels and take to the water - be warned though, there's every chance you will get wet, possibly even soaked...

Those who love a good fright can head to Duel - The Haunted House Strikes Back. It's a ghost train ride, with a contemporary twist - you get to shoot the ghosts! Take your laser pistol and fire at the targets to get a high score, it's a great family competition. If that's not haunting enough for you, spook yourself out by taking venturing down the Haunted Hollow - filled with all manner of creeps and chilling scenes. Then there's the mysteries of Hex - The Legend of the Towers to uncover. Hear the famous legend retold and step between illusion and reality as the room begins to move!

If you've got a thing for spinning, then hop aboard the crazy Tea Cup Ride, where cranking the wheel will send you into a tea-mendous stupor. Also be sure to ride the UG Swinger, a chair swinger ride that spins faster than a Pterodactyl circling it's prey.
