Start warming those vocal chords and digging out those Grease song sheets as the the talent show of all talent shows is coming to the UK. The new ITV show "Grease Is The Word" seeks to find the next Danny Zuko and Sandy Drumbrowski for the resurrection of Grease the Musical in the West End.
Similar to the televisual hit How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria, ITV's Grease Is The Word is set to find a Danny and Sandy from thousand of wannabe actors and whittle them down through a series of public votes. Auditions have already been held and the lucky few will battle it out on the ITV show hosted by the musical loving Zoë Ball.
The new ITV program will firstly show the hilarious audition process and how the judges whittled down their chosen Danny and Sandys from the thousands of hopefuls. The contestants are then put through their paces at 'boot camp' and eight couples are selected to fight it out live onGrease is the Word. The selection process runs for eight weeks and each week the audience at home will vote for their favorite and the losing couple will be sent home.
The wannabe Danny and Sandys will also have to impress a prestigious panel of judges, American producer and celebrity in his own right David Guest, eighties pop icon Sinitta, highly respected West End producer David Ian and American choreographer Brian Freedman. The lucky winners who are chosen by the judges and audience are set to appear in the West End production of Grease this summer and will also receive a recording contract for the release of the Grease soundtrack.
ITV2's follow up program Greased Lightnin' gets behind the scenes of the show and gets more personal with the contestants as Holly Willoughby commiserates the losers and congratulates the winners.
