Scotland's diamond geezer
Hollywood star Ewan McGregor has been voted the Scottish celebrity women would have most liked to have received a diamond from in their Christmas stocking, as part of Visit Scotland's new Winter White Campaign.
Paolo Nutini, David Tennant, Andy Murray, Gordon Ramsay, Kenny Logan, Sean Connery and Dougray Scott were all in the running to become Scotlands Diamond Geezer in the online poll.
VisitScotlands Product Manager, Suzanne Casey said: Ewan McGregor is a great ambassador for Scotland and its no surprise that he came out on top as our favourite Diamond Geezer with 37% of women taking part in our Winter White poll voting for him.
The Diamond Geezer poll was a fun way to get women around the country talking about Scotland and encouraging them to find out more about things to do and see during a winter break by visiting www.visitscotland.com."
The white-themed activities and attractions available in Scotland include skiing, snowy log cabin breaks, outdoor ice-skating, sled dog racing, ice-wall climbing, white waterfalls and white sandy beaches. Hotels across the region are offering special deals and VisitScotland has joined forces with Johnstons Cashmere, Cream of Galloway, Wiseman Dairies and Hamilton & Inches in a number of joint promotions. Hamilton & Inches are offering visitors to the site the chance to win a white diamond.
The Winter White Campaign is part of the Scottish tourist industry's bid to promote the country as a year-round visitor destination and increase tourism revenues by 50% by 2015.
Ewan McGregor recently appeared with Charley Boorman in the BBC 2 series Long Way Down. The series followed the actors on their 15,000 mile motorcycle journey from John O'Groats to Cape Town.
