New flights from Newcastle to Stavanger
[14th May 2008]
UK regional airline Eastern Airways is starting new direct flights this week from Newcastle airport to Stavanger, European Capital of Culture 2008.
Flights on the weekday service depart from Newcastle at 9.50am and arrive in Stavanger at 12.40pm local time. Return flights depart Stavanger at 1.10pm, landing in Newcastle at 2pm local time.
Although aimed principally at business travellers, the new flights also offer an opportunity for people looking to take a holiday to Norway, particularly those interested in the thousands of events being laid on for the European Capital of Culture celebrations.
These include art exhibitions, theatre, concerts, 3D movies, creative cookery demonstrations, coastal safaris and boat trips, making Stavanger an attractive option for a short city break.
Eastern Airways formerly flew from Newcastle airport to Stavanger via Aberdeen, but the new direct flights will mean considerable time savings. We know this direct flight will prove very popular and help further expand business links between the North East and Norway, comments Newcastle airport chief executive, Dave Laws.
Eastern recently increased its service from Newcastle airport to Aberdeen to six flights a day. Flights to Southampton airport were increased to four a day and to Cardiff airport to three a day. The airline also flies from Newcastle to Birmingham and the Isle of Man.
For travellers from the south heading to Norway, airline Norwegian recently extended its service from Gatwick airport to Stavanger to daily departures, excluding Saturdays.
