Carnival Cyprus
Every spring Limassol on the Mediterranean in Cyprus holds its carnival, and this year the celebrations begin on 28 February.
Dating back centuries with its roots in Greek mythology and Dionysiac festivals, today's 10-day event features parties, parades, elaborate decorations and music through the streets.
The arrival of the Carnival King signals the start of the festival on Thursday 28th and is followed by a children's parade on Sunday 2 March, various music shows and parties culminating in the Grand Carnival Parade on Sunday 9 March. Festivities centre around the Medieval Castle Square, Heroon Square, Market Square and Irenes Street Park.
Travellers hoping to experience the carnival could spoil themselves with a stay at recently renovated five-star boutique hotel, The Londa.
Fashionable amongst the elite of Cyprus, the Londa is offering Carnival
packages for two people to include four nights in a superior side view
room, dinner at the Londa's Caprice restaurant, an aromatherapy
or hydrotherapy treatment per person in the Londa's spa and taxi
transfers to and from the local airport.
