New Wicked Wizard

Having played 'The Wizard' since the show's opening, Nigel Planner is set to leave the cast of the spell-binding musical Wicked. Planner will take his final bow on June 7th to be replaced from 9th June by Desmond Barrit.

Currently starring in Alan Bennett's The History Boys as 'Hector,' Desmond Barrit has a long history in theatre. Barrit has had roles in HMS Pinafore, Twelfth Night, Stuff Happens, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way To the Forum, Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Henry IV: Part 1 and 2, Eurydice and Real Inspector Hound / Black.

A huge hit, Wicked opened on the West End in September 2006 after much anticipation. The production tells the magical musical story of Oz long before Dorothy and Toto strolled down the yellow brick road. A story of 2 young girls, one of the blonde haired and popular and the other... well, green skinned and destined to become the Wicked Witch of the West.

Wicked currently stars Dianne Pilkingon as Glinda, Oliver Tompsett as Fiyero, Susie Blake as Madame Morrible - with Harriet Thorpe taking over from 14 April. Kerry Ellis currently stars as Elphaba though will also take her last bow on June 7th.
