Jersey Boys launched by Two Vallis

The launch of the West End transfer, Jersey Boys was kicked off last week with attendance from two of the real-life Jersey Boys - Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio.

Jersey Boys will open in London on March 18 2008. The production first opened on Broadway in 2005 and won the Best Musical Tony Award the following year. Bob Gaudio describes the show as "a drama with music as opposed to a musical, because I think the story is so strong."

The production charts three decades from the 1950-7s in the life of the Four Seasons, four blue-collered boys whose sound - characterised by the falsetto of Frankie Valli - resulted in a staggering array of US and UK hits including Big Girls Don't Cry, Sherry, Walk Like A Man, Bye Bye Baby, December 1963 (Oh What A Night) and Can't Take My Eyes Off You and the musical features many of the groups hits. The musical charts the group's rise to international renown as musicians along with their involvement with crime, gambling and links with the Mafia.

The show has been written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and will be staged by the original Broadway creative team. The cast for the show has now been confirmed and will star Ryan Molloy as Frankie, Stephen Ashfield as Bob Gaudio, Glenn Carter as Tommy DeVito and Philip Bulcock as Nick Massi.
