Gone With The Wind on the West End

Billed as one of the greatest love stories ever told, Gone With The Wind is an iconic story that's soon to be wowing West End audiences when a new stage adaptation opens at the New London Theatre in April 2008.

Though no cast has yet been announced, the new musical is directed by the legendary director Trevor Nunn who will once again be working with designer John Napier. The pair's previous work includes Cats and Les Misérables. The score is written by Margaret Martin who has also adapted the story from the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Margaret Mitchell.

Mitchell's 1936 novel was adapted into the film of the same name starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh which became the highest grossing film ever upon its release in 1939. Gone With The Wind is set in 1860's Georgia, Atlanta and follows the story of Scarlett O'Hara. Scarlett's plush and luxurious life on her father's plantation is turned upside down by the American Civil War. Gone With The Wind sees the feisty Scarlett on incredible journey of romance and tragedy over a ten year period with a turbulent relationship with the unpredictable Rhett Butler.
