Connie Fisher and Lee Mead to duet

A BBC Christmas special this year will see Connie Fisher and Lee Mead perform together for the first time as the winners from Any Dream Will Do and How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria perform a duet on a star packed programme.

A one hour special, the show has the working title of Maria Meets Joseph and is billed as an "entertainment extravaganza." The duet is expected to form the shows centre piece on a show that will also see Andrew Lloyd Webber revealing his favourite moments from each of the televised talent searches.

Joining Andrew Lloyd Webber will be Denise Van Outen and John Barrowman. Currently starring in the West End show Rent - was a judge on Any Dream Will Do and will sing as part of a group performance with the Jospeh finalists. Barrowman was a judge on both shows and will be joining the Maria finalists for a group number. The songs being performed have yet to be announced but are expected to include a number of festive classics.

The Christmas special will be taking a look at what the other finalists from the shows have been up to since the original broadcasts. Winner of Any Dream Will Do, Lee Mead can now be seen in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Winner of How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria, Connie Fisher is starring as Maria for six performances a week in The Sound of Music with fellow Maria finalist Aoife Mulholland performing the Sunday evening and Wednesday matinee shows.
