Low cost flights no longer have to be boring as Iceland Express claims to be the first low cost airline to offer inflight entertainment on its flights from Rejkavik.
Passengers on Iceland Express flights from London Stansted airport to Rejkavik in Iceland will be able to watch movies and TV shows, listen to music and play computer games.
The inflight entertainment is offered via a handheld device, the Bluebox lite or ‘Airplay’, developed by Bluebox Avionics. The Bluebox lite has a battery which gives six hours of entertainment and Iceland Express passengers can rent it for ISK1000 (about £6) for the duration of their flight.
“We are delighted to have introduced the Bluebox IFE unit on our expanding route network and we are confident that the system will prove very popular with our customers,” comments Iceland Express CEO, Matthias Imsland.
David Brown, joint managing director of Bluebox Avionics, says: “We are pleased to announce Iceland Express as our latest Bluebox customer. The system has proved extremely popular so far and I am in no doubt that it will be a hit with Iceland Express passengers”.
As well as on flights between Stansted and Rejkavik, Bluebox lite will also be available to entertain passengers on flights between the Icelandic capital and the popular holiday destinations of Alicante, Barcelona, and Lanzarote, plus the popular city break destinations of Copenhagen and Berlin.
The low cost airline operates daily flights between London Stansted airport and Rejkavik and will also launch new flights between London Gatwick airport and Rejkavik from spring next year. It also offers flights between Rejkavik and the cities of Basel, Billund, Eindhoven, Frankfurt Hahn, Friedrichshafen, Gothenborg, Paris, Stockholm, and Warsaw.
Iceland Express offers a 50% discount on flights for children under 12 years of age and recently won the best website award at the World Low Cost Airline Awards.
