Runners prepare for Cadbury Marathon in Hobart

The town of Hobart in Tasmania will be hosting the annual Cadbury Marathon in January.

Fitness fanatics will be taking part in an unusual event in a unique location on January 6th – the Cadbury Marathon in Hobart, Tasmania.

This event offers the incentive of a bar of a chocolate on the finish line to competitors.

Hobart's Cadbury chocolate factory forms both the start and finish of this event and provides the victory treat for participants, who also receive a commemorative medal and a certificate.

For those who would prefer a more light-hearted challenge, there will also be a 'Freddo 5km' race and a 'Caramello Koala 1.25km' event.

As well as being a massive physical challenge, marathons also present an opportunity to visit some of the world's top tourist destinations, with races taking place every year in cities such as New York, Dubai, London and Marrakech.

Tasmania is an island off the south-eastern coast of Australia and is a popular location to visit for holidaymakers in the mainland Australian state of New South Wales, which includes Sydney.
