The city of Phoenix, Arizona will soon begin preparing itself for a huge influx of visitors as it hosts the 42nd Super Bowl on February 3rd 2008.
Arguably North America's most important sporting event, the Super Bowl never fails to attract plenty of worldwide attention.
It is the deciding game of the National Football League (NFL) championship and pits the winners of the National Football Conference against the American Football Conference champions.
As well as being an important sporting occasion, it is also a prestigious entertainment event, with U2 and the Rolling Stones among the bands that have played at the game's half-time show in the past.
The 2008 Super Bowl will be played at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, the home of NFL side the Arizona Cardinals.
While it will see an abnormally high number of visitors in February 2008, the state of Arizona is a traditionally popular destination for tourists, partly owing to the fact that it is home to the Grand Canyon.
