Norwegian Cruise Line is launching what it describes as a new class of private touring for cruise passengers who want to get more from their shore excursions.

NCL has found that more than 60% of people who book a cruise holiday look for personalised shore excursion options during their cruise. The tours are available for groups of two people up to 18 people and can be taken at all the cruise company's ports of call.

"These once-in-a-lifetime tours embody NCL's Freestyle Cruising by offering guests a completely customised experience to fit their individual needs, interests and schedule," says NCL president and CEO, Colin Veitch.

Ultimate tour options available include an Archipelago Speed Boat Adventure in Helsinki in Finland and a Rooftop Walk in Stockholm in Sweden which visits the Old Parliament Building, the Gamla Stan quarter and the Royal Palace.

Other choices include an Aerial View of the Maltese Islands, a 60 minute tour leaving from the Grand Harbour in Valletta, and a 4x4 Rally Experience in Livorno in Italy. Based at the Rally Club of Barga, this takes in a one and a half hour rally tour through the beautiful Tuscan countryside and a chance to take a turn at the wheel through the obstacles of the mountain course.

NCL recently launched its latest cruise ship, the 2400 passenger Norwegian Gem (pictured), and is currently building two new F3 (Third Generation Freestyle Cruising) ships for delivery in 2010.
