New luxury hotels on Rhodes
[21st April 2008]
Two new five star hotels are opening this summer on the popular Greek island of Rhodes, and easyJet is offering more flights to the island.
The Elysium on the Beach Hotel, 9km from Rhodes Town on the north-east coast of the island, opens in May. The new luxury hotel has 400 metres of beachfront, and all but nine of its 332 rooms have sea views.
There are two Presidential Suites each offering two bedrooms as well as a living room and kitchenette, plus standard doubles for those on a more modest budget. Leisure facilities include three outdoor pools plus a spa with 12 treatment rooms, fitness centre and tennis court. For anyone looking for a golfing holiday there is also an 18 hole golf course nearby.
When it opens on 1 July the Lindos Blue Hotel & Suites will be the first adult-only hotel in the South of Rhodes. Situated just outside Lindos and offering spectacular views of the Aegean Sea, this boutique hotel has just 70 rooms.
Two floor maisonettes include a fully equipped gym, private swimming pool and jacuzzi. The Lindos Blu also has a spa and health club plus an indoor heated pool and two outdoor freshwater pools.
Low fares airline easyJet is offering direct flights to Rhodes following its takeover of GB Airways. From 17 May easyJet will double the number of flights from Gatwick airport to Rhodes to four flights per week with departures on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday until 25th October.
The extra flights make Rhodes a suitable destination for short breaks as well as longer summer holidays. easyJet offers one way flights to Rhodes from £27.99, or £50.80 return including taxes.
