Low-cost airlines 'opening up Turkey'
Turkey has been made more accessible in recent times owing to the strong growth of low-cost airlines, according to BuyAssociation.
While it has traditionally been a popular holiday destination for Brits for some years, Turkey is now enjoying more accessibility than ever thanks to low-cost airlines, according to BuyAssociation.
A spokesperson for the company, which offers advice on overseas markets for people considering moving abroad, said that improved air access has offered a number of benefits to Turkey, particularly in the tourism and property industries.
According to Paul Collins, overseas property editor for BuyAssociation, expanding travel routes throughout Europe have had "quite an impact" on the Mediterranean country.
"When the low-cost airlines opened up they certainly looked at the shorter distances first, and it's only now that they're starting to spread to Turkey as a viable destination for low-cost flights," he said.
Mr Collins went on to suggest that, rather than creating a new market, improved air access has strengthened an existing one, as Turkey has been a popular destination for UK travellers for some time.
"Brits have been going on holiday to Turkey for probably 35 or 40 years, so there's quite a long history there of visiting and the cultures mixing," he explained.
