Jesse James 'puts Alberta on the map'
The Canadian province of Alberta is set for a boost in exposure as it is the setting for Brad Pitt's latest movie, a tourism group has claimed.
The province of Alberta in western Canada will soon be put in the spotlight with the release of Brad Pitt's next movie, according to Travel Alberta.
Pitt's latest film, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, features Alberta as its dramatic backdrop.
Released in UK cinemas on November 30th, the movie proved popular at the Times BFI London Film Festival this year and saw Pitt take a best actor award at the Venice Film Festival.
One of the key locations used for the production of the film was the Fort Edmonton Park, Canada's largest living history park, which provided a steam locomotive and two-mile section of train track that was used during the shoot.
>Calgary, the largest city in Alberta, features in the movie, with the historic Fairmont Palliser hotel serving as one of the most opulent settings in the picture.
This is not the first time that the landscape of Alberta has featured in a film, as 2006 award-winning hit Brokeback Mountain featured the state's prairies, lakes and Rocky Mountain landscapes.
