Holidays for barbeque lovers

Australia Day Fireworks

As National Barbeque Week gets off to a wet start in some parts of the UK it’s tempting to consider a holiday in the sun in some top BBQ destinations.

Flight Centre has revealed its best barbeque destinations which it says are the perfect antidote to a typically wet English summer. So it you’re fed up with the soggy sausages and burnt bangers, here are some sizzling BBQ hotspots to really get your juices running.

A four night city break at the 4 star Calestar Hotel in Buenos Aires is available from £759 through Flight Centre. Argentina is famous for its steak and its capital city – dubbed the Paris of South America – is a great place to sample a juicy rump in a sub-tropical climate.

If you enjoy a glass or two of crisp white wine with your barbeque, try heading to South Africa. An eight night Cape Town and Winelands holiday costs from £939. This includes bed and breakfast at the 4 star Bay Hotel in Cape Town, and at the 4 star Mont Rochelle Hotel in Franschhoek in the heart of South Africa’s wine country.

The undisputed home of the barbie has to be Australia. Here having a barbeque is a way of life, not just an occasional summer pastime. And with year round good weather in many parts of the country it’s not hard to see why BBQs are so popular.

Flight Centre has a seven night stay at the 4 star Hotel Cairns in Cairns, plus a two night stop onboard the Reef Encounter staying in a stateroom starting from £1145. After returning from a day snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef you can enjoy one of the public barbeques scattered along the promenade in Cairns while chilling out with a cold tinnie.
