Disney creates holidays for popstars

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is creating a new American Idol attraction in Florida for wannabe popstars.

The new Disney attraction will be at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park and is expected to open by the end of this year. It is being developed in association with 19 Entertainment, creator of American Idol and X Factor, and FreemantleMedia Licensing.

"Millions of people have imagined themselves standing on the 'American Idol' stage. We're excited that we will be bringing this dream to life every day at Walt Disney World," says Disney Parks and Resorts chairman, Jay Rasulo.

19 Entertainment CEO, Simon Fuller adds: “Disney’s new attraction perfectly captures what we at American Idol feel is the heart and soul of this brand – real people getting a shot to make their dream a reality".

Before their dreams can come true visitors to the American Idol attraction will have to go through the dreaded audition. Performers with the highest number of votes will compete in a Grand Finale show at the end of each day with the winner receiving a reservation for a regional stadium audition. Those not brave enough to perform will have the chance to do their best Simon Cowell impression as a judge.

Other new attractions opening this year at Disney’s Hollywood Studios include Toy Story Mania! where guests are immersed in a 3D interactive ride-through video game starring Toy Story characters.

If you think you could be the next Will Young or Leona Lewis you can hop on a flight to Orlando with a number of airlines in the UK. BA and Virgin Atlantic offer flights from Gatwick to Orlando International. Several airlines fly into Orlando Sanford including Thomas Cook Airlines and My Travel Airways.
