Copenhagen extends Metro to airport
The Copenhagen Metro system has been extended to connect the airport to the city centre.
A new stretch of the Copenhagen Metro system has opened, connecting Kastrup airport to the city centre.
Tourism agency Visit Copenhagen said the development will be a "boon to tourists, business travellers and Copenhageners" as the city centre will now be only 15 minutes away from the airport.
The Copenhagen Metro network is reportedly the most modern in the world and the changes were implemented without any effect on reliability.
In the first six months of 2007 the city's transport system achieved a 98.5 per cent rate of reliability in its services.
The new stretch of track is 4.5 kilometres long and runs from Kastrup airport, along the eastern shoreline of Amager, to Lergravsparken, stopping along the way at the new four-kilometre Amager Strandpark beach.
Extending through the centre of Copenhagen, the line takes passengers on to Frederiksberg and Vanlose.
