Austrian Airlines offers direct links to ski resorts

[November 5th 2008]

Passengers flying to Innsbruck on skiing holidays with airline Austrian will benefit from direct bus links to some of the top ski resorts in the Alps.

Austrian is launching the Skibus service on November 27th. It will connect with Austrian flights to Innsbruck, offering passengers a seamless service from the airport to the ski resorts of St Anton, Ischgl and Soelden.

The Skibus will operate twice daily from Thursday to Sunday in both directions until April 19th. The journey from Innsbruck airport to each of the resorts is scheduled to take approximately one a half hours.

Passengers taking their skiing or snowboarding holidays from London will benefit from excellent connections. On the flight leaving Heathrow at 06.05 passengers will be in their resort by 13.05 giving them the opportunity to hit the slopes in the afternoon.

Alternatively passengers leaving London on the 12.55 flight will be in resort by 20.35 in time to enjoy some après ski entertainment.

The Skibus leaves the resorts at 06.00 and 15.10. Passengers catching the earlier bus will arrive back in London by 12.05, while those on the later bus will be back in London by 21.35.

Minimum connection time from plane to bus is 25 minutes, while from bus to plane the connection time is one hour. Direct transportation to the passenger’s hotel can be requested, but passengers are normally dropped off at the main tourist office in resort.

The Skibus connecting service can be booked by phone or via the Austrian web site. Complete through fares will be quoted and Skibus tickets cannot be sold separately or booked on the aircraft or once in transit.

Earlier this year low cost airline easyJet launched new flights from Liverpool John Lennon airport to Innsbruck catering for passengers looking for city breaks as well as skiing holidays. Flights depart three times a week from Liverpool to Innsbruck.

Innsbruck is known as the “capital of the Alps” and provides a perfect gateway to the Austrian ski resorts for skiing and snowboarding holidays. The city is in the heart of Austria’s Tirol mountains and has attracted more charter flights from the UK in recent months.

As well as Liverpool, easyJet also offers flights to Innsbruck from Gatwick and Bristol airports. First Choice Airways operates flights from Bristol and Manchester airport to Innsbruck, while British Airways has flights from Birmingham, Gatwick and Manchester.
